Recently, a good news came from the National Science and Technology Ministry. It’s said the National Key Laboratory of Optical Fibre Fabricating Technology supported by YOFC has formally been approved to enlist in the national key laboratory establishment project of the second batch on January 6, 2010 (there are totally 56 projects throughout the country). This is not the only National Key Laboratory in the optical fibre and cable manufacturing industry but also the only one of this batch in Hubei Province.

The National Key Laboratory established in enterprise is an important part of the national technical innovation system. The main task is “researching the leading technologies in one industry, studying the common key technologies, promoting the transformation of fundamental research achievements and the industrialization of scientific research achievements, as well as formulating international, national or industrial technical standards”.

The approval of establishing the National Key Laboratory of Optical Fibre Fabricating Technology not only affirms YOFC’s achievements and strength in R&D, but also drives YOFC to further improve its independent innovation capability. During the period of implementing this project, YOFC will fulfill the national medium- and long-term development programs, and meet the construction needs of telecommunications operators. Focusing on the development strategy of “independent innovation, differentiation, internationalization and cost-leadership”, YOFC will vigorously develop the spirit of independent innovation, study the application technology of industry and originality, and support rapid development of fibre optic telecommunications and networking industry.
